Originally this local herb is called “Khaothong” to Northerners who enjoy consuming it as a side vegetable for the northern spicy dish called “Larp”. On the other hand, it is known as “Phlukao” to other people in different regions. (The pungent smell of the herb was what its Thai name reflected.) Because of its strong smell, nobody thought that it would be good to be used in making enzyme ionic plasma without leaving its trace of pungent odor. Its advantage is that the strong smell disappears and creates small organism which later becomes amazing and invaluable to people's lives. This small organism is scientifically called “microbe”.

In 1997, the former monk (Pra Ajarn Yod) from Monk Bureau of Tham Pa Plong, Chiang Dao district, Chiang Mai province originally started making the enzyme from this Phlukao herb for which it has become a legend today. The monk tried drinking this enzyme himself and distributed to patients who came for treatments at the monk bureau. The patients were sick with different kinds of illnesses from chronic to terminal ones. There were also a few pets which were sick. After that, some researchers did a research on this herb. It was found that the microbe in this herb is able to build immunity (or resistance) for the body. This herb is locally grown and abundantly found in the northern part of Thailand.
